100 is hundred, 1000 is thousand. I can understand that. But over 1000, I confuse everytime:-(
10000 is ten thousand. I learned it today so I got it. 12ooo is ... what I say?? twenty thousand?? 90000 is ninty thousand, it is easy. 150000 is .....one hundred fifty thousand! This is so difficult.
These thinking style of a number is different from Japanese style. The way to count is incomprehensible. I think if foreign people count by japanese style, they must be confused by that.

usually numbers over 1000 are written as (たとえば）12,000 and it is pronounced as "twelve thousand"
it is the same for 11,000 ... "eleven thousand". 150,000 is "one hundred fifty thousand".
1500 is fifteen hundred or one thousand five hundred.
2300 is twenty-three hundred or two thousand three hundred. 5900 is fifty-nine hundred or five thousand nine hundred.
