It was fireworks of
Tenjin festival at Sunday night. I was going to wear a yukata, but I noticed there were no geta(a pair of wooden clogs). Geta are necessaries in the yukata! I headed for a kimono shop at Shinsaibashi right away. They had irregular geta for 780yen. The design was not bad so I bought it.
From evening I began hair arrangement and wearing yukata. Hair arrangement's process was not easy! While I was doing it I thought I wonder I give up going to the festival. Wearing yukata was not difficult for me because I wear it every summer. Anyway, I finished preparing:) (My hair had gotten loose before I arrived at the festival...... )
To visit the tenmangu, we got off at Minami-morimachi station. There were stalls along the street and many people were walking slowly. The shopping street was filled with terrible hot air. Can you image hot air with damp in Japan's summer? I was looking at some stalls(goldfish scoping, apple candy, superball scoping and more....), while walking. For a split second, I felt as if I was demure lady:) It was yukata magic, I think so.
Recently young women wear modern design's yukata. It is so cute but I prefer classical yukata. I have 3 type yukata. Dark navy and dark yellow(like a musterd?), pale purple. I love dark navy's one. This summer how many time will I wear yukata? I'm looking forward to coming next festivals♪
After visiting the tenmangu, we wanted to see fireworks. We could hear the sound but couldn't see it as many buildings!Next year I should plan to see fireworks:(
We gave up to see fireworks and we went to Tenjinbashi-suji 6 chome for dinner. This area it feels like an old traditional neighborhood and hotly contested sushi restaurant district. We picked
sushi masa from many many. The price is not high. One plate(2sushi) is about100yen-500yen. Tenjinbashi-suji is a food paradise!
By the way, it is the day of the ox, which is named after one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. Japanese have a custom of eating eel on the day of the ox in midsummer to get stamina and survive the hottest season.
A bowl of rice with grilled ell on it!
